A CD of early Quarrymen numbers? Yeah, yeah, yeah! John Lennon's Original Quarrymen Get Back - Together The five remaining Quarrymen from the original 1957 lineup got together in Music House Studios in Liverpool in late 1997 to put together their first ever recording. Len Garry, who played tea-chest bass in 1957, reveals himself to be the owner of a great rock and roll voice and has taken up guitar, leaving Pete Shotton to step in on the bass, (and double on washboard on the skiffle numbers!) Eric Griffiths continues to play guitar, Colin Hanton actually uses his original drumkit and Rod Davis plays guitar instead of banjo and sings lead on a couple of Donegan numbers. The result is a real foot tapper, with a very authentic 50's sound about it, even the echo was produced with a genuine Watkins Copycat! If you were ever a skiffle fan in the 50's you'll recognise the sound immediately, all those guitars whamming solidly through their three chords and the old tea-chest thumping away in the background!
